SEYMOUR SAFELY SQUEEZES BY IN VICTORY OVER SHELTON
It was a shaky start for Seymour in the D3 11/12 SB tournament. After allowing the game’s lead off batter a walk followed by a wild pitch and passed ball, they fell behind when Shelton managed to plate the runner on a 1 out 4-3 putout.
With the support of seven putouts on defense, Seymour pitching settled down with 12 strikeouts, another base on balls, hit batter and one hit to shutout the opponent the rest of the way.
Shelton pitching proved to be puzzling to the Seymour bats for the first three innings before they rallied for one run each in both home halves of the 4th & 5th to overcome the early deficit. Resorting to the small ball game in the tight pitchers dual, both Seymour runs scored on perfectly executed safety squeeze plays.
Our girls survived and advance to play an anticipated gritty Oxford team in a D3 semi-final Sunday 8:00 PM @ Sunnyside in Shelton.
